Another major source of income in Rosarito is American land investment, which the Mexican government recognizes and promotes since it is a reliable source of economic growth. Whereas once upon a time foreigners were not allowed to own land or real estate, particularly the ones fronting the beach, people have now found ways to work around the system to allow foreign investors to purchase real estate without breaking any laws. And foreigners are attracted not only to the beautiful beach fronts, but to the lower cost of living as well. Real estate is cheaper and so are the property taxes. Add to that the beauty that is Rosarito and you’ll begin to understand why this little city is thriving.
